New equipment alert! ProMach company Weiler Labeling Systems (WLS) just introduced their new VCV Fiber Laser Vial Coder, designed to solve the biggest challenge in ‘bright stock’ labeling.
As alternative to traditional packaging, ‘bright stock’ manufacturing is a process in which product is packaged without final labels. It enables manufacturers and contract packers to consolidate operations, produce bigger batch sizes and handle unlabeled products to meet the needs of various country markets and global customers.
The primary challenge with this strategy is ensuring that the contents of every package are known with 100% certainty. That’s where the VCV Fiber Laser Vial Coder comes in. This rotary system marks ‘bright stock’ vials to help manufacturers and packers positively identify unlabeled products in storage and throughout the supply chain for improved traceability while maximizing production efficiencies.
Designed to handle unlabeled vials from 5 to 500 cc in size, the VCV Fiber Laser Vial Coder marks the aluminum crimp area of the cap with a product code and time stamp at speeds of 150 vials per minute and above. Accuracy is extremely important since a) the print location is tight and allows for virtually no margin of error and b) fiber lasers require a very consistent focal distance. To achieve the impressive accuracy required, this system inspects the height of each vial prior to printing while a servomotor-driven slide-mounted laser adjusts to each vial’s height and vacuum pockets hold the vials steady. After printing, the code is inspected for readability and accuracy, and any vials with imperfect codes are automatically rejected.
Ideal for pharmaceutical, biotech and veterinary products in vials or cartridges, the VCV Fiber Laser Vial Coder marks the crimp area with a 2D data matrix code, including a time stamp, using a fiber laser from Domino. It can be used to mark other variable data such as a serialized code.
