We love nothing more than speaking to a candidate whose profile is a great match for our job posting… Except, sometimes, that candidate lacks an appropriate understanding of who we are or what the job was that they applied to. Imagine this: you’re meeting a friend, except when they arrive they couldn’t remember that it was you they were going to be meeting with. You would surely be disappointed. So this brings up this month’s tip:
Keep track of the position
When you apply to a position, we recommend tracking that position carefully, which includes making a copy of the job posting. It is very possible that by the time we speak for the first time, the job posting will have been removed, and you will not be able to reference it online when you are preparing for your interview. We want our first meeting to go as smoothly as possible, so please ensure you keep your own record of the job posting, and use it in preparation for your interview with us. Any interview will go much better that way, and we won’t get the feeling that you accidentally showed up expecting to speak about another job.
