Here at NJM, we’re always looking for new ways to apply our customers’ favorite packaging solutions to a broader range of applications. That’s why, this year at Interphex, we’re debuting the Dara NFL/2-RDL aseptic filling and closing machine for vials. It’s a twist on the high speed SX-310-RDL, which was a hit with our customers at Interphex last year, but for processors with smaller capacity requirements.
Like the SX-310-RDL, the NFL/2-RDL fills vials and closes them with RayDyLyo caps. But now, the new system handles nests of pre-sterilized, ready-to-use vials, which massively simplifies small scale-production by eliminating the need for a washer and dehydrogenation tunnel. This makes the NFL/2-RDL ideal for biotech companies and 503B pharmacies that are scaling up to achieve small batch commercial production.
The NFL/2-RDL packages biopharmaceutical solutions, suspensions, diagnostics or vaccines in glass or plastic vials, which remain in the nest while being filled and sealed. The vials are closed with ARaymondlife’s patented RayDyLyo caps – pre-assembled plastic closures that feature a rubber stopper within the cap to minimize the ‘pop-off’ effect and eliminate the risk of stoppers adhering to freeze dryer plates. By utilizing RayDyLyo caps, the NFL/2-RDL and the SX-310-RDL both eliminate the crimping that’s required with traditional aluminum closures and the particulate generation that comes with it.
The fully servo-driven NFL/2-RDL simplifies the packaging operation by filling ready-to-use vials in nests and leveraging RayDyLyo caps to reduce capital costs, minimize footprint and speed changeover.
